At La Tea Da we consider tea time to be a respite from a hurried lifestyle - a time to relax and feed both your appetite and your soul. Toward that end we provide an elegant but relaxed atmosphere, feature delicious menus, and import the finest teas. We serve at a deliberately slow pace (unless otherwise requested). Our motto is "Everything stops for tea."

Our menu is prepared by chef Debbie Wheat. Debbie charms repeat customers with an ever-changing menu. Each month brings a new menu.

Your tea begins with a first-course soup, followed by scones with Devonshire cream or jam. A tray with three savories and two sweets is presented next. A slice of cake brings the tea to a close. Each menu includes five featured teas - a white, a black, an oolong, a green and an herbal infusion. During the summer months a refreshing iced tea is added.

Our Schedule...

Tea is served three times weekly - on Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:00am, and on Saturdays at 2:00pm. Additional seatings at alternate times are sometimes offered. The cost is $20.

Enjoying Tea at Dolfingers

No tipping at La Tea Da and here's why. In England, in the second half of the 18th century tea Gardens became popular. In the gardens ladies and gentlemen took their tea out of doors amidst lush green pathways and entertainment such as concerts and jugglers. By paying a fixed entry price, the customer could drink as much tea and eat as much bread and butter as desired. Tipping as a response to proper service developed in these tea gardens. Small, locked wooden boxes were placed on the tables throughout the gardens. Inscribed on each were the letters, "T.I.P.." which stood for "To insure prompt service". If a guest wished the waiter to hurry (and so insure the tea arrived hot from the often distant kitchen) he dropped a coin into the box upon being seated. At La Tea Da there is no need to tip. Our kitchen is close by and our kettle is always boiling.
